Baby bobcat was found alone in Arizona home — until ‘golden eyes’ appeared in bathroom
A homeowner followed noises to their attic and found a baby bobcat all alone, Arizona wildlife officials said.
But that wasn’t the only surprise.
The baby bobcat was first discovered June 8 in Scottsdale, the Arizona Game and Fish Department said in a July 10 Facebook post.
The homeowner captured the kitten and rescuers took it to a wildlife sanctuary after the “mom was nowhere to be found,” officials said.
Then later that same day, a “pair of golden eyes” were seen gazing from inside a shower in the same home. The eyes belonged to the kitten’s mother, wildlife officials said.
“Well aware of the dangers that accompany approaching a wild bobcat attempting to locate her kitten, they were able to work together to carefully capture the mom bobcat,” officials said in the post.
The homeowner’s damaged roof allowed the animals to crawl into the home, wildlife officials said.
Both the mom and her kitten were released back into the wild. Rescuers said they were sure to check the attic again for more bobcats, but they didn’t find any.
Scottsdale is about 10 miles northeast of downtown Phoenix.
