‘Avid hiker’ vanishes after being dropped off at Joshua Tree campground. Search is on
National Park Service officials are searching for a man who didn’t return from a camping trip in California.
Trammell Evans, 25, was last seen when someone dropped him off at the Black Rock Campground in Joshua Tree National Park on Sunday, April 30, the NPS said in a news release. Officials believe the “avid hiker” was traveling alone.
Photos show him wearing a silver or light grey “sun hoodie,” a black puffy vest, blue shorts and shoes, a black backpack and a dark green beanie, which is what officials say he wore when he was last seen.
Park officials started the search after he was reported overdue from his trip on Friday, May 5, the release says.
He is 6 feet, 3 inches tall and about 190 pounds with brown eyes, red/brown hair and facial hair, officials said in the release.
Park rangers ask anyone who may have seen or talked to him to submit tips by calling or texting the NPS–wide Tip Line at 888-653-0009, online at go.nps.gov/SubmitATip or via email at nps_isb@nps.gov.
“Though no further details about this ongoing search and investigation are available at this time, information from other hikers is often very helpful,” officials said in a Sunday, May 7, post on Facebook.
