A massive black bear is getting a lot of attention for the way he maneuvered himself down into a crawl space den in California.

In a video, the chunky bear carefully lowers himself — butt first — down into the crawl space beneath a building.

A wildlife photographer whose work focuses on urbanized black bear populations in South Lake Tahoe captured the footage on Sunday, Feb. 12, and shared it in a post on their Instagram account, tahoetoogee.

“A very LARGE South Lake Tahoe urbanized male black bear oozing himself backwards into the crawlspace den he shares with another very LARGE urbanized male black bear,” they wrote in the caption.

The video seemed to delight viewers, with some marveling at how a bear of his size was able to squeeze himself down into the shared den.

“Like the fact that he can squeeze himself in there?!?!” one wrote. “I don’t even think I’d fit! And there’s two in there!”

Some joked that the bears split the cost of rent in the shared den. After all, the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the area is about $1,600, according to Zillow.com.

Others seemed impressed by his style.

“Like a noodle through a strainer,” one wrote. “So smooth.”
