A passenger in a car was seriously injured after teens hurled rocks onto the interstate, Arizona police said.

A 15- and 16-year-old were arrested Tuesday, Nov. 9, after police said they threw rocks onto the interstate in Tucson, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

One passenger was hurt after being struck by a thrown rock, the department said.

“Both suspects were released into the custody of their parents; criminal charges are pending,” police said in a news release. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

Sydney Navarro told KGUN she was driving on I-10 last week when a cement block crashed through her car windshield and hit her girlfriend.

“Bursted through the window,” Navarro told the news outlet. “There was glass everywhere on the car. She was covered in glass.”

Navarro told KYMA it looked like her girlfriend, “had a hole in her face.” The woman had a broken cheek and jaw bone, according to KGUN.

Troopers said six “rock-throwing incidents” on I-10 were reported between Oct. 26 and Nov. 8.
