Dog slid 60 feet down embankment and ‘vanished.’ Oregon officials came to the rescue

A 100-pound dog slid down an embankment and got stuck, Oregon officials said.

Presley the Great Dane was let outside Sunday and was gone for two days, owner Susan Clark told KPTV.

“I turned around and said, ‘Come on Presley,’ and she was gone, vanished!” Clark told the TV station.

When she finally found Presley, the dog was stuck 60 feet down an embankment with no way out, the Westport Fire And Rescue team said. She was severely injured in the fall.

“Her injury prevented her from making her way back up the 60-foot steep bank,” rescuers said.

Presley’s owner called the fire department and asked for assistance.

Typically, the fire department doesn’t routinely rescue dogs. The on-duty fire chief decided the team would see what they could do to help.

Multiple people with rescue equipment were sent to the scene. Once they arrived, the team used a stokes stretcher and ropes to pull the dog from the embankment.

Presley was free about 45 minutes later and was taken to an emergency vet hospital. Clark told KPTV the dog was recovering at home and is going to be OK.
