A video of dogs attacking a man in a Colin Kaepernick jersey during a Navy SEAL demonstration has sparked an investigation.

Video of the incident, showing military dogs attacking a Colin Kaepernick stand-in, was filmed last year but resurfaced this past weekend, The Washington Post reported. The demonstration took place during a National Navy SEAL Museum event, which isn’t overseen by the Navy, according to the publication.

In a second video posted on Twitter, the man says “Oh man, I will stand” after the dogs attack him.

Kaepernick was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and drew attention for kneeling during the national anthem during NFL games to protest police brutality. He was joined by other athletes after kneeling alone during earlier games.

The Navy released a statement, calling the video “completely inconsistent with the values and ethos” of the organization.

“We became aware today of a video of a Navy SEAL Museum event posted last year with a military working dog demonstration,” the SEALs said in a statement on Twitter posted Sunday night. “In the demonstration, the target is wearing a Colin Kaepernick jersey. The inherent message of this video is completely inconsistent with the values and ethos of Naval Special Warfare and the U.S. Navy. We are investigating the matter fully, and initial indications are that there were no active duty Navy personnel or equipment involved with this independent organization’s event.”

NBA players and coaches took a knee in protest last week during the season restart after the coronavirus pandemic paused games, CBS reported. Players from the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the New Orleans Pelicans, and Utah Jazz kneeled during the national anthem.

LeBron James of the Lakers told reporters,“I hope we made Kap proud,” according to the outlet.
