Talk on imaging atoms planned in Richland

Arun Devaraj

How scientists use sophisticated microscopes to understand the arrangement of atoms and learn how to change it will be discussed at the Richland Public Library.

Scientist Arun Devaraj of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will discuss the advanced microscopy methods used at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Environmental Molecular Science Laboratory in Richland to study atoms in three-dimensions.

What they learn can be used to make materials that are stronger or more useful, such as making batteries last longer.

The talk will be at 7 p.m. March 10 at 955 Northgate Drive as part of the PNNL Community Science and Technology Seminar Series.
