DOE science bowl to be held in Pasco Feb. 27

Five Tri-City high schools will compete in the Department of Energy Regional High School Science Bowl Feb. 27 at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.

The public is invited to watch the competition among 16 schools at the Lee R Thornton Center, which is the S Building. The competition runs 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. with the final round of competition at about 4:30 p.m.

Hanford, Kamiakin, Kennewick, Richland and Southridge high schools are fielding up to three teams each. Questions will be on a wide range of topics, including chemistry, biology, physics, engineering and math and energy, earth and space science.

The regional competition is organized by the DOE Pacific Northwest Site Office and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
