PNNL image to be displayed at national exhibit
A Pacific Northwest National Laboratory photo of a soil bacterium on a plant root will be exhibited at the National Institutes of Health.
The photo was one of 11 selected for display in the BioArt Image and Video Competition by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.
Alice Dohnalkova created the photo with electron scanning microscopy at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory on the PNNL campus.
Research is being done to better understand the presence and distribution of carbon within the soil root zone and how it impacts the diversity and function of the microbes present. Increased knowledge could enhance the production of bioenergy crops.
