Visitors to the Tri-Cities will know as soon as they walk into the Tri-Cities Airport terminal that they’ve arrived in a community that’s a hub for world-changing scientific research.

The walls of the terminal have been hung with a dozen canvas prints of some of the most artistic images from three of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s recent annual Science as Art contests.

The exhibit previously hung at the state capitol building in Olympia and at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle.

While the images are artistic, each was produced as part of research at the Department of Energy national lab in Richland. Most of them are the product of sophisticated microscopes and other scientific imaging equipment.

The exhibit will be displayed at the airport through 2018.
