The public can pick their favorite artistic images created as part of scientific research this year at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Voting is open online until 5 p.m. Friday.

Scientists and researchers at the Department of Energy national laboratory submitted 90 photos and other images for PNNL’s seventh Science as Art contest.

The submissions ranged from images showing microbes living on ancient glass to photos taken to study how plant biomass can be converted to fuel.

Top images from the Department of Energy’s Science as Art competition in previous years have been displayed across Washington, including the Pacific Science Center in Seattle and the state Capitol Building in Olympia.
