Comment period extended on central Hanford deadlines
The public comment period for extensive changes to deadlines for environmental cleanup work in central Hanford has been extended until Feb. 12.
This is the second extension to the comment period, which began Oct. 26. It was requested by Seattle-based Hanford Challenge.
Some of the proposed new deadlines would be pushed out by almost a decade, and some requirements to set deadlines would be delayed until more information is available.
The deadlines would cover much of the remaining cleanup work in central Hanford, other than work related to Hanford’s underground waste tanks. They also would cover some key work yet to be finished near the Columbia River.
Details are posted at www.hanford.gov on the event calendar on each day of the public comment period.
