Hanford security guards are working under a second contract extension, this one for 60 days.
The Hanford Guard Union remains committed to working out a contract agreement with Mission Support Alliance at the bargaining table, particularly during such difficult global times, said Ed Pacheco, president of the union.
The contract had been set to expire at the end of October, when an initial two-week extension was negotiated.
Some of the main issues that have been under discussion are disability retirement benefits, a company proposal to change the guard’s work schedule and a company proposal to make changes to seniority, according to the union.
Mission Support Alliance has said it looks forward to continued good faith bargaining by both parties.
