Richland open house planned for African American oral history project
An open house is planned 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Richland to launch a civil rights oral history project.
The project will look back to the recruitment of African Americans to work at the Hanford nuclear reservation in World War II, their lives during the war and what happened after the war.
The event will be held at the Doris Roberts Gallery and in the lobby of the Richland Public Library, 955 Northgate Drive.
The program is a collaboration of the African American Community Cultural and Educational Society (AACCES) in the Tri-Cities, Washington State University Tri-Cities, the National Park Service and the library.
