Work at the Hanford nuclear reservation, including the vitrification plant, was canceled Tuesday because of ice and freezing rain.

Only essential workers were told to report to work.

Hanford Meteorological Service data showed freezing rain falling from 10 p.m. Monday until at least 4 a.m. Tuesday. Fog was reported from midnight until 7 a.m.

Early in the morning workers were told to report in staggered shifts at 9 and 9:30 a.m., but later the delay was changed to a cancellation.
