Thousands of graduates and their friends and families filled the Toyota Center in Kennewick for Columbia Basin College’s commencement ceremony Friday evening.

More than 1,400 students earned degrees from Pasco’s community college, most of them associate degrees but also some in applied science, bachelor’s degrees and one-year certificates.

Elizabeth Castro, a former Running Start student and CBC alumna, who recently graduated from the University of Washington, was the keynote speaker. CBC President Rich Cummins and other college officials and faculty also made remarks.
