Awards & Achievements for Aug. 11

▪ Jun Taek Lee of Richland was named to the Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa, dean’s list for spring semester. Parents are Seung Lim Lee and Mal Soon Lee of Richland.

▪ Quinten Dicken of Richland was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Dicken is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts & Sciences.

To qualify for the dean’s list in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

▪ Allison Boynton, a native of Richland, has been named to the Seaver College dean’s list for the spring semester at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.

In order to earn dean’s list honors, students must be in the upper 10 percent of their class and maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average. This year, Boynton is one of only 295 students to earn the honor.

▪ The following students were named to the provost’s honor roll for spring semester at Whitworth University in Spokane.

The students qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Walla Walla — Anna Hinz, Lauren McCaw

▪ Tobin Carlson, a 2015 graduate of Kiona-Benton City High School, was named to the dean’s list at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. She is the daughter of Clark Carlson and Ingrid Bugeson of Benton City.

▪ Lisa N. Bratton of Richland, a junior, was named as an honor student for the summer semester at Texas A&M University. She is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in ocean engineering.

▪ Trevor Lemos of West Richland was named to the dean’s honor roll for the spring semester at the University of Wyoming.

▪ Zongchen ‘Jack’ Yang, a 2015 graduate of Delta High school, was on the University of Washington dean’s list during his freshman year. He is enrolled in the Arts and Sciences school at UW with a career goal of getting a degree in medicine.

Jack and his family moved to Kennewick from Beijing, China, in 2010. He spoke little English and attended Horse Heaven Hills Middle School for one year to assimilate.

During his four years at Delta High, Jack distinguished himself as a scholar and musician, winning awards in the State Science Fair and State History Fair, as well as receiving local recognition for his piano playing and receiving many academic achievement awards at Delta High.

His parents are Bob Fowler and Qiao Xinhua of Kennewick.

▪ The following students made the academic deans’ list at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif. These students are honored for a spring 2016 grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Sunnyside — Danika DeGroot, nursing major.

Kennewick — Brian Walker, biology interest major; Molly Walker, nursing major.
