Hannah Doyle, daughter of Benton Rural Electric Association members John and Donna Doyle of West Richland, was chosen to represent the state of Washington on the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (NRECA) Youth Leadership Council.

Doyle was recently sponsored by Benton REA on a weeklong tour of Washington, D.C., with the NRECA’s Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour. She traveled with students from Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

During her trip, Doyle visited the war memorials, toured Mount Vernon, witnessed the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery, and met four Washington state public servants on Capitol Hill.

Doyle visited Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell at their constituent coffees. She also met and spoke with Reps. Dan Newhouse and Dave Reichert in their D.C. offices.

While in D.C., Doyle was selected to represent the state of Washington on the Youth Leadership Council. Later this summer, she will join other state representatives for a leadership conference and will carry the Washington state flag during the 2017 NRECA annual meeting.

Applications for the 2017 NRECA Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour will be available in the fall to sons or daughters of Benton REA members entering their sophomore or junior year in high school.
