North Franklin schools win grant for emergency alert system

The North Franklin School District will have a new emergency alert system installed thanks to a grant from a private Ohio-based security company. Response Technologies Ltd. recently announced the district received its School Emergency Safety Grant.

The grant will pay for the installation of a $20,000 computer-based system that when activated will send location-specific signals to first responders through their radios, allowing a quicker response to emergencies at schools in the district. The grant also will pay for training school employees to operate the system.

An installation date for the system will be scheduled before the end of 2016.
