Hanford High media students win top awards

Students at Hanford High School in Richland earned top awards at the National High School Journalism Convention April 14-16 in Los Angeles.

The student newspaper The Altitude earned a Best of Show third-place award. Seniors Caroline Waring and Emily Tan are the editors-in-chief.

Students Diana Wang won superior for infographics; Sonali Matta won superior for yearbook layout: inside pages; Dana Small won superior for yearbook copy/caption: sports; Shibani Datta won excellent for yearbook copy/caption: student life; Katie Peurrung won excellent for yearbook sports photography; Caroline Waring won honorable mention for newswriting; Kyle Reisenauer won honorable mention for sports writing; Emily Tan won honorable mention for commentary writing; and Michelle Chou won honorable mention for editorial writing.

The media class is led by faculty adviser Nancy E. Smith.
