Finley FFA chapter earns third place
At a national recognition ceremony May 12 -14 in Washington, D.C., the Finley FFA chapter earned third place and a $1,000 award from the Nutrients for Life Foundation. During the “Helping Communities Grow” FFA chapter recognition program, the foundation recognized Finley’s FFA chapter for teaching plant-soil interactions.
The Finley FFA chapter, in conjunction with the Franklin County Farm Bureau, educated more than 1,200 fifth-graders at this year’s annual Farm Fair at the Benton County Fairgrounds in March. Students attending the two-day fair rotated through two Finley FFA booths, learning about the importance of plant-soil interaction in sustaining a global food source. Students learned how to take care of their own gardens to provide a sustainable food source for themselves. In addition, FFA members provided a brochure for the students, as well as for those in attendance at their annual plant sale.
Finley FFA team members were Holly Wood, Cheyenne O’Hair, Taylor Woehle and Chesley Munden.
