HAAP ceremony honoring Tri-City students April 29

Twenty-five graduating seniors will receive scholarships totaling $65,000 during the annual ceremony on April 29 for the Hispanic Academic Achievers Program.

The program also will award a record 5,664 certificates to students in grades four through 12 for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better, a release said.

The ceremony is at 6 p.m. at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. Admission is free.

Jessica Infante-Castro, a top scholar recognized by HAAP years ago, will be the keynote speaker. She has since graduated from Columbia Basin College and the University of Washington and recently earned her master’s at Pacific Lutheran University.
