Richland School District breaks ground on middle school in West Richland
Current and former members of the Richland School Board toss some dirt Wednesday during a groundbreaking ceremony for the district’s fourth middle school.
West Richland school at the intersection of Keene Road and Belmont Boulevard will open in August 2017 and will house 800 students.
It is designed by Design West and the general contractor is Fowler General Construction. See a video at www.tricityherald.com/video.
Richland parents will have an opportunity to weigh in on proposed middle school attendance boundaries during the last community meeting March 31.
The Richland School District has been working on re-aligning boundaries for more than a year as it prepares to open the fourth middle school.
Input also will be sought on maintaining current boundaries between Richland and Hanford high schools or designating “feeder middle schools” for the high schools, with Carmichael and the new middle school assigned to Richland High and Chief Joseph and Enterprise middle schools to Hanford High.
The meeting start at 6 p.m. at Enterprise Middle School
Information about the proposed changes can be found online at www.rsd.edu/info/boundary-revisions.html and people unable to attend the meetings may also leave feedback at the link.
