Middle-schoolers headed to statewide Math Counts Competition

Two local middle schools dominated at the Tri-Cities Chapter Math Counts Competition recently held in Richland.

The Carmichael Middle School math team earned first place, qualifying it to compete in the state championship in March.

Team members are John Titus Barnett, Trisha Boonpongmanee, Zoe Gotthold and Johnnie Norsworthy. Michelle Gotthold, parent of Zoe Gotthold, is the team coach.

The Enterprise Middle School Math Team earned second place, also qualifying for the state competition. Team members are Nicholas Chang, Michelle Fu, Austin Wang, and Jason Zhong. Their coach is parent Tao Fu.

Trisha earned a first-place trophy in the individual competition. Austin earned fourth place in the individual competition.
