WSU Tri-Cities to offer online wine business management certificate

Washington State University Tri-Cities will offer a one-year online certificate program beginning in January to those looking to break into the business side of the wine industry.

The wine business management certificate will be taught by WSU business faculty as well as wine industry professionals, according to a news release. It will cover marketing, financial management and the legal, trademark and compliance details of the industry. It will also require students to spend two weekends on the ground in the state’s wine country to gain field experience.

WSU’s School of Hospitality Business Management, part of the university’s Carson College of Business, is offering the certificate. It was developed alongside viticulture and enology certificates already offered.

University officials said the new offering provides yet another avenue for those wanting to get into the wine business.
