Eighth-graders in Terry Barragan’s family and consumer science classes at Carmichael Middle School in Richland used their sewing skills to make pillowcases for the Safe Harbor Support Center in Kennewick.

The nonprofit crisis nursery and family support center is committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect by providing a safe environment for children.

“It’s been great to see these students take ownership of this community service project,” Barragan said.
