Pasco, Kennewick students earn state awards for career and technical education

Two Tri-City high school students have won state awards in career and technical education.

Brandon Maher of Kamiakin High School and Tanya Salas of Pasco High School were given the Washington CTE Student Success Award, the state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction announced Thursday.

The two students were among 18 receiving the award while another five students were named Washington Scholars in CTE.

“More than 45 students across the state were nominated for these awards, representing the very best of CTE in Washington,” an OSPI release said.

The students will now represent the state for the U.S. Presidential Scholars in CTE later this year. This is the first time CTE students will be recognized for the annual awards.
