WSU Tri-Cities administrator earns award
A Washington State University Tri-Cities administrator has earned a national award for promoting student learning and personal development.
Danielle Kleist, director of student life on the Richland campus, received the Doris Michiko Award for Excellence as a Student Affairs Professional from Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, which goes by the name NASPA, a release said.
Kleist helped establish club sports, programs in recreation and the outdoors as well as those for new students and parents, created graduate assistant positions. University officials said she’s also worked to bring in out-of-state students. She received an award from NASPA in November for her work improving the student life experience at the university.
Kleist formerly worked as an assistant director and director of orientation and commuter student involvement at the University of Miami.
