WSU Tri-Cities administrator to receive award
A Washington State University Tri-Cities’ administrator will receive an award next week honoring her service with a professional education journal.
Michele Acker-Hocevar, vice chancellor for academic affairs, will receive the Distinguished Service Award on Nov. 21 during the annual convention of the University Council for Educational Administration, a release said.
Acker-Hocevar was one of two co-editors named in 2011 to transition the organization’s Journal for Research on Leadership Education to an online format and grow its prominence. UCEA officials said the number and quality of submissions to the journal have grown in recent years.
Acker-Hocevar took over WSU Tri-Cities’ academic affairs on an interim basis in September, taking over from Mike Mays, who transitioned to being director of the Hanford History Project. Chancellor H. Keith Moo-Young said in August that the university would conduct a two-year search for May’s permanent replacement.
