Park Middle School kicks off anti-drug campaign
Kennewick’s Park Middle School will simultaneously celebrate Red Ribbon Week and National Anti-Drug/Alcohol Week from Oct. 26-30.
The school intervention specialist Drea Brunson has planned a week of fun-filled education, with a strong message to students: “Finding Ways to Say No.”
In remembrance of Officer Enrique “Kiki” Camerena, a DEA special agent who dedicated his life to fighting the war on drugs, large Red Ribbons will hang on every classroom door and there will a Red Ribbon Pledge poster in the school cafeteria for students to sign.
The school also will host a family event on Oct. 27, where Brunson will speak to parents about how they can talk to their children about drugs and alcohol. A DEA officer will be in attendance to discuss the legal aspects of drug and alcohol abuse.
