Future City competition deadline approaching

The deadline for middle school-aged students to enter this year’s Future City competition at Washington State University this winter is Oct. 21.

The competition, which pairs groups of students with mentors from WSU’s engineering department, aims to have the students develop a solution to a societal problem.

This will be the first year there will be a sub-regional competition at WSU for Eastern Washington teams, though it is also open to teams from northern Idaho and Montana, a release said. The winning team will receive $500 and assistance covering hotel and transportation costs to attend the regional competition in Seattle in January.

For more information, contact WSU engineering instructor Cara Morton at cara.morton@wsu.edu.
