Kennewick names principal for new elementary school

Rob Phillips, principal of Kennewick’s Washington Elementary School for the past seven years, will be principal of the district’s newest elementary school when it opens next year.

The district recently announced Phillips’ new position. He started teaching in the district as a fourth-grade teacher at Southgate Elementary School before leaving to start his administrative career in the Othello School District. He also has been a principal at Amistad Elementary School and Park Middle School.

The new elementary is under construction in the Sagecrest neighborhood in the Southridge area. Phillips’ appointment means the district can soon begin the process to name the school as well as determine its mascot and school colors.
