Deadline nears to apply for $200K in scholarships in Tri-Cities region

The deadline is nearing to apply for up to $217,500 in scholarships being awarded this year by Yakima Federal Savings and Loan to graduating seniors in the Mid-Columbia.

April 20 is the deadline top students in central Washington to submit applications for the Award for Academic Excellence scholarship program.

Individual awards of $2,500 are available to up to 80 students who live in Benton Franklin, Kittitas or Franklin counties.

Applicants must graduate in the top 10% of their class and demonstrate character, industriousness and ambition. The program is open to home-schooled students as well.

Applications may be completed via YakimaFed.com/scholarship.

The process includes submitting a one-page letter of motivation that outlines future plans, life experiences, challenges overcome and the impact of the scholarship.

Winners will be notified June 1. Awards will be paid directly to the student’s chose school upon fall enrollment.
