CBC postpones Martin Luther King award presentation because of COVID spike

Columbia Basin College is postponing in-person 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award presentation because of the sudden spike in COIVD-19 cases.

The annual celebration was planned for Monday, and normally includes a bell ringing ceremony and a program at the Pasco campus.

Each year, CBC honors one member of the community for their commitment to equality and social justice and whose contributions to society reflect the spirit, philosophy and teachings of the slain civil rights leader.

The college will post a video presentation with a speech from the award winner and a musical presentation from the Tri-Cities Gospel FlashMob. They plan to have an in-person presentation at a later date.

The Making a Dream drive-through food distribution event will still be held in the H Building parking lot in Pasco from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday.
