She helps 2nd Harvest fight hunger. Now she’s going to help fill minds

A Second Harvest executive will now be helping to make sure students’ minds are fed as well as their bodies.

Holly Siler, Second Harvest Northwest’s senior vice president of projects, was picked by Gov. Jay Inslee to fill a spot on the Columbia Basin College’s board of trustees. She is replacing Sherry Armijo, who reached the maximum number of terms she could serve.

Siler will serve a five-year term on the board.

At Second Harvest, Siler oversees strategic plan initiatives and works to increase efficiency while raising awareness about the nonprofit throughout Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho..

The organization with offices in Pasco and Spokane delivers donations to more than 250 food banks.

She started with Second Harvest in 2015 and previously spent two years with Visit Tri-Cities.

“Holly brings a wealth of knowledge gained through her experiences living and working here in the Tri-Cities,” said Columbia Basin College President Rebekah Woods.

She is excited about bringing her personal and professional skills to the board, she said in a news release from CBC. She is passionate about making sure students are ready for the workplace, financially literate, and the students, faculty and public are healthy.
