Pasco groups to be honored by ACLU for roles in fatal police shooting
The state American Civil Liberties Union will honor a Pasco community group and a Tri-City activist organization for their response to the police shooting of an orchard worker.
The ACLU announced Consejo Latino and Tri-Cities Community Solutions will receive the Civil Libertarian Award, which is given out for contributions to civil liberties and justice in the state.
The groups will be honored Saturday at a dinner at Union Station in Seattle.
Both groups have been outspoken about the fatal police shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes, 35, who was killed earlier this year during a rock-throwing confrontation with three Pasco police officers.
