Funeral Mass held for shot Pasco farmworker
Nearly 100 mourners gathered Wednesday afternoon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pasco for the funeral Mass of Antonio Zambrano-Montes.
Zambrano-Montes, 35, was shot and killed in a confrontation with three Pasco police officers earlier this month, sparking a firestorm of civil rights complaints.
The orchard worker was not armed with a gun or knife but was throwing rocks at cars and officers before the shooting, according to the initial investigation.
After Wednesday’s service his body is to be returned to his small hometown in a rural part of Michoacan, Mexico, that he’d left about 10 years ago.
