Kennewick police are asking for the public’s help after exhausting their leads in the gang-related death outside a Kennewick apartment last week.

Police are still looking for two suspects who shot a man who confronted them as they were carving their rival gang insignia on his parked SUV.

Jorge Antonio Jimenez, 20, died after being shot in the stomach and leg on Aug. 16 at the Heatherstone Apartments. The suspects were seen running north through the apartment complex on 10th Avenue.

Officers got several tips in the past week, but no arrests have been made and investigators need someone with more information to come forward, said Sgt. Ken Lattin.

“We would like to talk to these new witnesses in person but remaining anonymous through Crime Stoppers is OK, as well,” he said.

“This type of crime is not acceptable regardless if it is a gang member involved. A human life was taken and we want to hold someone accountable for this heinous crime. We need the public’s help,” he said.

One suspect, who is believed to be the shooter, is a shorter Hispanic male in his early 20s, with a heavy build and dark hair.

The other suspect was described as a taller Hispanic male in his early 20s, with a thin build and spiked dark hair.

The shooting reportedly triggered a retaliatory assault in Pasco.

Anyone with information on the Kennewick shooting is asked to call Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers at 509-586-8477 or 800-222-8477. Callers can remain anonymous and could earn a reward.
