West Richland police chief leaves force after six years
West Richland Police Chief Brian McElroy is leaving the department after six years to “seek new opportunities and challenges,” according to a news release from the city.
McElroy joined West Richland police in June 2010 during “a time of great change for the agency,” the release said. He is credited for reorganizing the department, strengthening regional partnerships and improving training programs.
“McElroy has been active in our community as a member of the Red Mountain Lion’s Club and present at many community events West Richland is known for,” the release said.
Capt. Ben Majetich will serve as interim chief until a new chief is appointed.
A public farewell reception is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 1 at the City Council chambers, 3803 W. Van Giesen St.
