Pasco man arrested after hitting stop sign

A Pasco man was arrested after he crashed into a stop sign and sped away from police Monday.

Rey DeJesus Garcia, 22, was driving about 1:34 a.m. toward the intersection of East Washington Street and South Fourth Avenue when a Pasco police officer saw him hit a stop sign with his pickup truck.

He then hit speeds up to 80 mph as he drove away before stopping on the 900 block of North Elm Avenue and running off, police said.

Officers zapped Garcia with a Taser and took him into custody. He was booked into Franklin County jail on investigative holds for DUI, hit-and-run, eluding and driving with a suspended license.
