Tri-Cities police to hold National Night Out event Aug. 2

Officers across the Tri-Cities are hosting National Night Out, a series of family gatherings to help build relationships between the community and police.

The events take place Aug. 2.

▪  Kennewick: 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Southridge Sports and Event Complex. Activities include bounce houses, vehicle displays and free food and drink.

▪  Pasco: Events start at 5 p.m. in neighborhoods in the city that registered to participate before July 29. The focus is to help “build police-community partnerships and camaraderie with their neighbors.”

▪  Richland: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in John Dam Plaza. Drawings for raffles, which includes bicycles for kids, will take place at 7:15 p.m.

▪  West Richland: 5 to 8 p.m. at Flat Top Park, 4749 W. Van Giesen. There will games, hamburgers and hot dogs. Officers will teach participants about crime prevention. Child identification kits will be available free of charge.
