Kennewick woman hits dump truck on interstate
A Kennewick woman was hospitalized Wednesday after slamming her car into the back of a dump truck on Interstate 82 near Zillah.
Janice A. Elliott, 36, was driving west in a Dodge Stratus when she tried to pass another car in a construction zone and rear-ended the truck in a closed lane, said the Washington State Patrol.
The state Department of Transportation was doing road maintenance and had posted signs and closed one of the westbound lanes about two miles west of Zillah.
The wreck happened just after 1 p.m.
Elliott, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Toppenish Community Hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
Dump truck driver David S. Taylor, 48, of Yakima, was not hurt.
