Two were hurt after a five-car pileup that backed up traffic on Queensgate Drive in Richland at rush hour Monday evening.

Margret J. Juarez, 25, of Kennewick, was driving east on Interstate-182 when she lost control trying to change lanes and rolled her Chevy Malibu through the median into oncoming traffic, said the Washington State Patrol.

Juarez hit a Honda Accord head-on, which caused both vehicles to collide with a Nissan Altima. Two more cars hit debris from the wreck.

All westbound lanes were blocked for time, said WSP. Juarez and the Accord’s driver, Guadalupe Michel, 35, of Grandview, were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

Michel was treated and released. Juarez was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts.

WSP troopers cited Juarez for an unsafe lane change, speeding and negligent driving. She also was driving with a suspended license.
