Tire blowout causes Pasco driver to crash into rock wall

A tire blowout caused a Pasco driver to hit a rock wall Thursday night on Highway 17 outside Connell, said the Washington State Patrol.

Elida Zuniga, 36, of Pasco, was driving a black 2008 Ford Edge south about 8 p.m. when the tires on the right side of her car blew out, causing her to swerve and hit the wall, the state patrol said.

She was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with unknown injuries. The state patrol said defective equipment is to blame for the wreck.
