Report: Pasco woman with head wound, walked for days

A Pasco woman suffering from a possible bullet wound to the head remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after being found near a Lower Valley fishing pond, according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was found about 8 p.m. Monday in the brush near a pond near Interstate 82 between Zillah and Wapato.

Deputies responding to a report of a woman needing help found her at the pond at the end of Flint Lane, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Deputies said the woman did not appear lucid because of her injury and exposure to the weather, but said she told them she had walked to site several days ago.

Deputies have not been able to interview her or confirm whether she was shot, Detective Sgt. Mike Russell told the Yakima Herald-Republic Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about the case call 509-574-2500.
