Military service member dragged while vehicle is stolen in Kennewick
An active duty member of the U.S. Coast Guard was dragged for several hundred feet Sunday as he attempted to stop someone from stealing his vehicle outside a Kennewick smoke shop.
The victim had gone into Big Smoke at 4434 W. Clearwater Ave. and when he returned to his vehicle he saw two men inside it, a Kennewick Police Department release said. He put down his purchases and went to stop the thieves and was dragged until one of the men pushed him off. It was unclear if the victim was injured as a result of the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim’s purchases were stolen by a woman who fled the scene. She was later identified as Yesenia Aguilera and arrested. She was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of theft.
The stolen vehicle was recovered Monday morning and was unoccupied. Police identified the man who drove the vehicle in the theft as Dylan Ray Amos. Anyone with information on Amos’ wherabouts should call 509-628-0333 and refer to case number 16-17711.
