Bicyclist hit by passing pickup near Touchet

A 21-year-old bicyclist from Atlanta was hospitalized Wednesday evening when the side mirror from a passing truck hit him.

The incident happened on Highway 12 two miles west of Touchet in Walla Walla County just before 5 p.m., said the Washington State Patrol.

Joseph Latimer, 34, of Pasco, was driving west in a Dodge pickup when he tried to pass Timothy Collins on his bicycle and Collins was hit.

Collins, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with unknown injuries. The wreck is under investigation, said the WSP.
