A transient man had to be freed from a garbage truck after he was tossed into it when the truck operator emptied a trash bin at Kennewick’s Edison Elementary School.

Jacob R. Barrett, 27, was sleeping in the bin when a truck from Waste Management arrived and emptied it while on its route, a release said. It was while on his way to his next stop that he heard someone yelling and banging on the side of the truck.

The driver stopped and opened the rear door and found Barrett half buried in trash,” the release said.

Barrett was taken to Trios Health to be cleared by doctors before being booked into the Benton County jail on a felony warrant. He was also issued a warning for trespassing on school grounds.
