The man wanted for allegedly assaulting his mother and her neighbors and stealing at least two vehicles over the weekend was arrested Monday afternoon after he tried to swim across the Snake River to escape.

Aaron James Hogan, 37, was pulled from the water after Pasco police and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies closed in on him, a release said. They were helped by Pasco police dog Hapo, a rescue boat from the Pasco Fire Department and Franklin Fire District 3.

Hogan was reportedly seen running earlier Monday morning from a white Dodge Ram crew cab truck with “Lotto’s Bullpen” emblazoned on the sides abandoned in the rail yard in northeast Pasco, a release said. Hogan allegedly stole the truck on Sunday.

Hogan is being investigated for allegedly assaulting his mother in her apartment off Road 68 on Sunday morning. Shortly after that incident, a nearby couple in their 70s was assaulted and robbed when someone came in their unlocked back door.

Electronics were stolen and loaded into a van, which was later found abandoned in the 7100 block of Deseret Drive, where the truck was stolen from horse training business Lotto’s Bullpen.

Hogan was also wanted on a warrant from the state Department of Corrections.
