Gun suspected of being used in Kennewick assault found

A man is being held in the Benton County jail, accused of pointing a gun at his former girlfriend and making threats, according to Kennewick police.

Miguel Sanchez is being held on suspicion of felony assault involving a firearm, according to police reports.

Police were called to an apartment at 1001 W. Fourth Ave. in Kennewick where the assault was reported at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Joe Jackson. The woman was not hurt.

Police watched a residence in the 400 block of South Rainier Street where Sanchez is known to stay until he came out and got into a car.

After obtaining a search warrant, police on Sunday found a gun they believe was used in the assault.
